Cemetery Tour

Each autumn around Halloween, the historical society teams up with the caretakers of the Wildey Odd Fellows Cemetery for a cemetery tour. Established in 1865, the cemetery contains over 1,200 graves and many elaborate monuments.

During the tour, costumed individuals "rise" from the graves to tell about their lives in Washington. From 10 to 15 former residents are portrayed each year with the "cast of residents" changing each year. Each talk is about five minutes in length.

A small fee is charged for the tour which helps cover maintenance costs of the cemetery. The tour is held in late October. Questions about the tour and advanced tickets, may be directed to the Washington Historical Society Museum, 636-239-0280.
