The Schwarzer Zither Ensemble and the Washington Historical Society announce a Grand Zither Concert to be held Sunday, April 2, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington. Participants will form the largest zither orchestra to perform in the United States this year. Cost is $12. Tickets may also be purchased at the Washington Historical Society Museum in person.
Tomy Temerson, world-class master zither player, from Hanau, Germany, will lead zither workshops during the 2023 International Zither Gathering in Washington. The concert is the culmination of the workshops. Zitherists from across the United States and other countries will participate in the workshops and the concert. Temerson will perform solo zither pieces in the concert.
Temerson has played the zither for about 40 years, having trained at the German State Academy for Musical Education. He has performed in numerous competitions, winning prizes for his technique and musicality.
