Stumpe Brent Tofle Scholarship

The Washington Historical Society announces the Ruth Stumpe Brent Tofle Family Scholarship applications for the 2024-2025 school year are now available by clicking here. 

The Ruth Stumpe Brent Tofle Family Scholarship Fund will award $1,000 to one person of any age from Washington, Missouri, or within the Washington School District. First preference will be given to candidates who attend or will be attending the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Eligible candidates must currently be enrolled or admitted and intending to enroll as full-time, part-time, or on-line students. They may be in an undergraduate or graduate program in any field for the 2024-2025 school year. 

All candidates must demonstrate an interest in the mission and goals of the Washington Historical Society to curate, preserve and interpret the history and heritage of the Washington, Missouri, area. Applications must be submitted by March 28, 2024

“The scholarship is a tangible way of thanking, giving back and investing in the future of Washingtonians,” Tofle noted.

Ruth Tofle is the daughter of the late Clarence and late Dorothy Stumpe of Washington. Four generations of the family benefited from an MU education. The family held the Washington community and higher education in the highest regard.

The historical society is a primary repository of Stumpe family papers and historic artifacts, including the 1908 Economy Motor Buggy.
