Franklin County Records

The AME Annex building, located just one block east of the main museum building, is available for research by appointment only.  We ask that appointments be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling 636-239-0280.

This facility houses over 700 volumes of original Franklin County records, including wills and estates, county commission minutes, taxes, paupers, and hundreds of original probate files which are gradually being microfilmed by the county, the originals than being permanently transferred to the historical society. Dozens of other miscellaneous county records are housed here as well.

The bulk of this material spans the time period between the founding of the county in 1818 up to, in some cases, the 1960s. Not all records are complete and it is recommended that you call ahead to inquire about specific availability.

Microfilm of most of the records is available at the museum during library open hours, 1-4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.  A modern microfilm reader is available that allows hard copy prints as well as digital copies.
