Volunteering

Volunteers handle everything from janitorial work to organizing the society’s social functions to publishing books on local history. The museum director jokingly refers to the volunteer base with the following statement, “All I have to do is unlock the door and everything else just happens through the hands of the volunteers."

The museum and library can always use more help. Every volunteer will eventually find her or his niche. Many have been active for decades. One volunteer recently ‘retired’ after 33 years of cutting, pasting and organizing obituaries and other newspaper clippings.
